Small Medium & Large

Extra small was at a friend's house.
Well it pays to make sure the blogger app actually publishes your post these last few were sitting unpublished from the last week. Better late than never.

Water Heater

We got a new water heater. For the price we paid it should do the dishes and fold the laundry too.

I downloaded the Timehop app and am enjoying reliving my posts from 2 and 3 years ago. How time flies!

I'm so excited we booked a vacation rental in Ocean City to celebrate Jim & Arlene's 50th* anniversary in August.  I can't wait!

Sweater Take 2

I got to the shoulders of my first adult sweater and realized I had used the larger needles for the ribbing and the smaller needles for the stockinette and it's supposed to be the other way around. I ripped it out and started over. Sigh.

After some negotiation the body shop and insurance company have decided to repair my van. I'm happy about that even though it greatly affects the resale value now that it has been in an accident. I plan to drive it as long as I can so resale value doesn't matter much. We had major maintenance done, new tires, etc and the benefit of the lower miles so I'm pleased to be able to keep it. I have to drive the rental that has squeaking seats until mid April though. Squeak squeak.

We had friends over on Saturday and the kids and I made balloon string eggs. You partially inflate a balloon so it has an egg shape and then wrap it with flour and liquid starch coated yarn. Once the yarn is fully dry you pop the balloon and remove it leaving a string egg.  I hung them from the tree in our front yard and they looked so nice and springy. And then it rained all night! Of course I have no before picture.

Poor Nugsy

Nugget has a lump on his hip. He was on a short course of steroids and it didn't change. Yesterday he had to be sedated to get an X-ray and they still don't really know what it is. He was mad at the vet because she didn't give him a cookie after she examined him because she didn't want anything in his stomach.  But he loves her so much he was waiting for her to come back and pet him.

Bad Dream

One of these days I will spend my last night with a little one snuggled up next to me because he had a bad dream and the sad thing is I won't know it's the last time until months later.  So I won't complain about my sore back today.

David and I took a class and learned how to make Ukrainian eggs at our library today. It was fun!  Mine is in his left hand.  Here he is posing with the instructor

That's My Boy!

Alex had a near miss with a B at midterm in one of his classes but he brought it up and continues his all A streak.
He registered for high school and all of his teachers recommended him for honors classes so he registered for those and chose advanced robotics and computer applications for his electives.
I can't wait to watch him continue to succeed.

Rice Pudding

I've been making Joy of Cooking's Stovetop Rice Pudding and Allan, David and I love it. Tom and Alex hate it.  More for us!
¾ cup medium- or long-grain white rice 1½ cups water Heaping ¼ teaspoon salt 4 cups whole milk ½ cup sugar ½ teaspoon vanilla ground cinnamon for Allan and I

I Want to Talk to Flo

The driver that totaled my car has Progressive. The body shop told me they are terrible.  I can now suspect it's true. They can't do another evluation until Wednesday and meanwhile we found a van we'd like to buy. I hope they get back to me with a dollar figure by the end of the day tomorrow.

According to the body shop my van had much more extensive damage than originally estimated and they are confident that it will be deemed totaled once the insurance company sees it.
Meanwhile I'm driving a 2014 Toyota Sienna which is pretty nice. I still prefer my own car that's not dragging a payment book and intend to find something similar instead of just putting the $8k down on a new or newer one. I need to repeat this to myself a few times to fully accept it.

Blue and Gold

Tomorrow will be our seventh annual Blue & Gold banquet celebrating our cub scout.  This year we have two to celebrate.  I made these cookies one year:

and this cake another:
And now I'm feeling a little guilty about the store bought cookies we are bringing this year.  Oh wait, the feeling is gone.

I'm so excited it's finally March 12th!  I took today off and am meeting my BRF (best running friend) Erin at a book signing tonight.  Tales From Another Mother Runner by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea is out and we are going to Fleet Feet to hear an excerpt after enjoying dinner at Chipotle.  I don't think I've ever seen Erin outside of a race or training run.  I'm going to wear my new Another Mother Runner lifestyle shirt! It says, "always running somewhere" and today it couldn't be more true.  I have a ton of things to do on my day off including watching David play in the 3rd/4th grade championship basketball game.

Not Injured

On Friday I was in my damaged car stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk and someone rear ended me!  He must not have braked at all because the damage is bad and my bumper looks like it's about to fall off. Almost 48 hours later I can confidently say I am not injured. Just sick of car accidents and hesitant to drive much.

And Tom's collarbone is 100% healed and he can participate in gym again, he's thrilled.

Living Room Captain

Tom has accepted the position of living room Captain.  He will keep the living room picked up at all times and will report any items that belong to his brothers so they can remove them.  He will be paid the handsome sum of $20 per month which incidentally is the same wage David earns for feeding the dogs twice a day.

I rear ended someone on Monday.  A car was pulled over on the wrong side of the road and a truck swerved around it causing the driver in front of me to brake suddenly and I and hit him.  It wasn't that much damage, I was able to brake but not in enough time and both bumpers were dented/cracked.  The police came and filed a report.  I was given a verbal warning for following too closely.   No air bags deployed, no injuries.

Or so I thought.  I had my car estimate done ($700) and got a call from my insurance company saying the other driver has retained an attorney and claims to be injured.

Asshole.  That's all I have to say about that.

Dog Meds

Rimadyl liver flavored chewables at the vet $36 for a 14 day supply
Generic carprofen pills at Costco $41 for a 50 day supply plus 48 count mozzarella cheese sticks $7.99
Add that to the 50% we save on food and it more than pays for our Costco membership.
